Ratiopharm Ulm has secured its spot in the EuroCup for the next three years. The club will continue to play at the highest level and compete against top international teams.
What does this mean for Ratiopharm Ulm?
The license is a strong signal and a huge success for Ulm. Since the premiere season 2012/13, Ratiopharm Ulm has been one of the most consistent and best teams in the competition.
What's next?
The new licenses are part of a comprehensive restructuring of the EuroCup competition. The field of participants will be significantly expanded: instead of the previous 20 teams, 32 teams will now compete in four groups of eight teams each.
Who are the opponents?
Ratiopharm Ulm will find out which opponents they will face initially at the official draw on July 8 in Barcelona. The club will face teams like the two-time Champions League winner Teneriffa, the traditional club PAOK Saloniki, or the exciting team from the Italian capital Rome with NBA superstar Luca Doncic as an investor.
| Season | Participants |
|---|---|
| 2012/13 | 20 teams |
| 2023/24 | 32 teams |
What does the EuroLeague say?
The EuroLeague justifies the expansion of the competition as follows: „It is a reaction to the overwhelming interest of clubs from all over Europe, who perceive the BKT EuroCup as a competition that promotes stability, stimulates investment, and supports the long-term planning of the participating clubs – and at the same time offers a high-class framework in which the teams can compete at the highest level.“
